As the third LIV event gets underway, one of its biggest stars has unsurprisingly been hitting the headlines.
Speaking after the LIV Pro-Am, where he played alongside former President Donald Trump, Eric Trump and Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau discussed his current relationship, or lack thereof, with Tiger Woods.
Speaking on Thursday, Bryson explained:
“We have been fairly close and unfortunately, we have not spoken, one day we will again, and I am always open for a conversation with anybody. I have no problem with it and I hope we can come see eye to eye on it.’’
The next time the two may see each other at a tournament could be in April at the Masters, but according to the wife of Ben Crenshaw, Julie, that may not even be the case.
Responding to a tweet from TWLegion, which reported Bryson’s comments on Tiger, Julie Crenshaw made her feelings known about the 28-year-old, claiming that he should do more listening after Bryson allegedly told Ben, multiple champ at Augusta, how to putt on the tricky greens.
As well as ripping DeChambeau for the putting advice, Crenshaw’s wife suggested that Bryson’s days at the Masters are numbered.
This all comes in the wake of Greg Norman’s recent interview with the New York Post, where the Aussie stated:
“I spoke to Fred Ridley. They’ve weighed in pretty hard against (LIV). The majors should stay Switzerland, they have a responsibility for one event, not a league. But it also tells you is there a cabal there? This is the slippery slope you go down about what LIV is starting to expose.”
Interesting times ahead.

There are a lot of online supporters of LIV, stands are empty, and only 1000 people were streaming the last event. Either there are a lot of bots being paid to support LIV or people say they support it, but really like to argue on comment boards.

Nothing wrong with Bryson playing on the LIV tour. I would play there over the PGA tour. I have no respect for the cry babies and Jay Monahan. Case closed! Obviously their medications aren’t working.

I don’t get all this LIV love. Imagine a segment of NFL players, some popular but washed up, some slightly-better-then-average, many you’ve never heard of, jumping to a new Saudi football league. They’re paid huge amounts of guaranteed money to play games with 10-minute quarters in front of 10,000 fans. Would that be “good for football”? Would that “grow the game”? Why is not seeing to players play against each other so appealing? Would fragmented professional football be good?

it’s not a comparable sample. player in the NFL are employees of the league and are unionized. ask yourself this. how does FIFA hurt UEFA? Ho does the English Premiere league hurt the world cup? Short answer is it doesn’t. There is room for all to co exist.

Given there will still be a Masters event, I’ll still watch it. But depending on who’s ‘not’ playing, my enjoyment w/b less. Also w/b interesting to see in a few years how LIV plays out. Remember, at one point years ago, some of the somewhat younger LIV’ers (Reed, DJ) were nobodies. Then they started winning & gained notoriety. The same cycle will repeat itself in a few years on the PGA tour.

Augusta has many neocon members. SA directly benefitted via iraq who had nothing to do with it.

Nobody has asked me but…
The difference between what the
LIV and the rest of golf, (PGA, USGA, LPGA, DP, European Tour, etc.), offers their fans and players is simple.
Golf in general, especially the PGA, offers tradition and heritage
(and a pretty good living) versus
the LIV, which offers more money for less work and basically a guaranteed check.
The LIV can’t offer 150 years of history, or a green jacket, or the 17th green at Sawgrass, etc.
They can give you $100,000,000.
If you want the money, you know where to get it.
If you want the other stuff, (and I know the Masters may still accept former winners who join the LIV, simply to save the honor of their traditional exemptions)
you have to meet THEIR requirements.
If Cameron Smith wants to hit another tee shot at 17 at Ponte Vedra, he needs to consider that.
As far as the money is concerned, I would be interested how many guys who played at the Open were playing just for the money.
Bryson may well have played his
last round at Augusta.
Sort of like saying “Amen” at the Amen Corner.
I couldn’t help myself.

How well did Bryson putt pre-anchoring (from wrist to elbow)glued to his forearm. Grow the game is all I hear on TV golf coverage but a penalty if a long putter dare touch a players chin or their chest. Dumb rule. I have been using the same 46 inch putter since 1999 and it is not fun putting in windy conditions.I would never bet on a player using long putter in The Open. That one ruling has extended a few PGA Tour careers and killed a few others.Roughly equals out

Rory McIlroy has been one of the most outspoken critics of Greg Norman and LIV Golf Series since the breakaway tour’s inception.
The Northern Irishman has slammed many of the recent defectors to LIV, calling them ‘duplicitous’, and after winning the Canadian Open back in June, McIlroy set his sights on Norman.
Speaking to Amanda Balionis after his victory in Canada, Rory talked about how much the win meant to him:
“Yeah, this is a day I’ll remember for a long, long time…my 21st PGA Tour win..one more than someone else…that gave me a bit extra incentive today.”
That ‘someone else’ could only have been one man – LIV chairman Greg Norman.
Unsurprisingly, that jibe did not go unnoticed by Greg Norman, and in a recent interview with Australian Golf Digest, the multiple major champion hit back with a slick response.
“I respect Rory, but I am somewhat confused by his approach. But then, he is paid to sit on the PGA Tour’s Player Advisory Council, so he is obviously going to support the tour. I do know he has asked for sizeable appearance fees to play in Saudi Arabia. His comments also show competition is a wonderful thing.
So, I take it as a compliment that he wanted to beat my 20 PGA Tour wins. His next goal should be to win more than 91 tournaments globally or to maintain No.1 in the world for more than 331 weeks.”
We’ll see if Rory has a response for Greg should he grab a victory in the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

It’s been quite the summer for Cam Smith, with the Aussie capturing his maiden major at the Home of Golf before almost instantly being heavily linked with a move to LIV Golf.
After unconvincingly dodging the question of whether he was joining the breakaway tour or not following his Open win, the Telegraph reported that the Aussie had signed a deal with LIV worth north of $100 million.
Per the Telegraph, Smith will likely make his LIV debut next month in Boston, but it still hasn’t stopped the Aussie from teeing it up at the FedEx Cup playoffs, with his eye very much on capturing the $15 million bonus.
Asked on Tuesday to confirm or deny the report, Smith responded with an auspicious “no comment,” which stoked plenty of response from golf fans and those in the media.
Following his opening round at the FedEx Cup Playoff opener in Memphis, Sky Sports reporter Nick Dougherty asked Smith if he understood how journalists “read between the lines of those sorts of comments“, and the Aussie offered an interesting response:
“Yeah, it’s just their job, mate. That’s what they’re there to do, they’re there to sell stories, and I’m sure they’ve had a few looks at it the past few days. You know, I’m ready to cop some heat.
I understand what I’ve said, but like I said, I’m here to play to win the FedEx Cup Playoffs. That’s my number one goal, and whatever happens after that will come from me.”
Smith began his charge at the FedEx Cup title with a round of three under par in Memphis to sit just five back of the early lead.

When the pros face a greenside bunker situation, they are usually very adept at getting up and down.
However, take the wedge option away, and that success rate obviously drops quite significantly.
In recent times we’ve seen players try and get out of horrible spots in the sand with a putter, with usually poor results. Back in February, at the 15th hole at PGA National, Lee Hodges attempted just that, with a disastrous result, putting the ball from sand to the hazard.

So, how about removing wedges and the putter as options?
That was the dilemma facing Leona Maguire at the opening round of the ISPS Handa World Invitational, with the Irish woman choosing to play a HYBRID from a nightmare spot at the back of the bunker.
What happened next showcased the 27-year-old’s immense talent, knocking her hybrid bunker shot to inside 10 feet and then drilling the putt.
What a way to save par ?@leona_maguire uses her hybrid to get out of the bunker.
