The landlord for Chicago’s tallest building, Willis Tower, promoted Britton Derkac to senior vice president and national head of leasing.
In his new role, which creates a dedicated leasing function within EQ, Derkac will handle all leasing activity within EQ’s portfolio, as well as manage strategic relationship with customers and brokers to retain customers and develop new business.
Derkac has nearly 20 years of commercial real estate experience including spending the last 14 with EQ Office. Previously, he was EQ’s senior vice president and portfolio director, working on value creation as well as EQ’s strategies for buying and selling properties.
“[Derkac’s] dedication to our partners makes him the ideal candidate and representative of the EQ Office brand,” said EQ Office CEO Alex Vouvalides in a statement. “We’re confident that under Brit’s leadership, EQ will continue to help companies attract, retain and inspire talent by creating effective work environments.”
“As the workplace continues to evolve, EQ Office has an opportunity to shape the customer experience — to become a strategic partner that works to deliver value and design space that not only fits —– but exceeds future needs,” said Derkac in the statement.
The portfolio of EQ Office, a unit of New York-based Blackstone Inc., includes the 110-story Willis Tower, which completed its $500 million renovation project this spring.
