Acustica Audio has released Fire The Tilt. The next plug-in in the developer’s Fire Series of one-knob plug-ins is a tilting equalizer for quick and easy frequency adjustments. Fix the sonic balance of your tracks with a single turn of the plug-in’s big knob!
After the Fire Filters and Fire The Clip, Acustica’s new Fire series is growing once again. Fire The Tilt is a tilting equalizer that allows you to control the overall frequency content of your audio tracks with minimal effort.
A tilting EQ is an obvious choice for a one-knob plug-in because this type of EQ only has a single knob by definition. Turning it affects the frequencies above and below a center frequency simultaneously. When the highs are attenuated, the lows are boosted, and vice versa. This is a quick way to control the overall frequency balance of an audio signal.
While the big knob is the main event, Acustica has implemented a few features that allow you to take precise control. You can adjust the center frequency, and there’s an output level slider that compensates for any loss or gain in volume. In addition to this, you can choose from stereo, mid, side, and compensated mid-side (M-S CMPX) configurations.
Furthermore, the plug-in offers a choice of four filter modes. Along with two tilt modes with different slopes, Fire The Tilt includes two „smile“ curves that work as a loudness EQ. In these modes, the highest and lowest frequencies are attenuated or boosted. At the same time, the center portion of the spectrum is affected in the opposite direction.
Like all plug-ins of the Fire series, Fire The Tilt uses very little CPU. This means that you can slap it on a bunch of tracks without having to worry about overloading your system. With this new addition, the Fire series is really shaping up to become a collection of highly useful plug-ins that can make your mixing life much easier.
Acustica Audio Fire The Tilt is now available for €39. The plug-in runs on macOS 10.14 or higher (including Apple Silicon) and Windows 10 or higher (64 bit). It’s available in VST, AU, and AAX formats. You’ll need Acustica’s free Aquarius application for installation and activation. A 30-day trial is available on the developer’s website.
